U.S. markets were open yesterday and the Dow closed at another record high, it's 50th record high this year.
Investors seem enthusiastic about decent holiday shopping numbers and a significant drop in the weekly read on first-time claims for unemployment benefits in the U.S. It fell 42,000 last week, reflecting volatility at this time of the year. The four-week rolling average rose 4,250.
North American markets started today higher. The TSX will probably play catch-up through the day with light trading volumes. Bond yields are up 4 to 6 bps.
